Love Is !

This question has overwhelmed mankind from the start of time. Love by it’s self is a word hard to evaluate since it has no vocal levels as many words do. Words such as happy, happier, happiest, warm, warmer and warmest communicate a level of intensity where as love is limited to one level when used by itself. This factor limits and weakens it’s magnitude.

Love is defined as,
1. A deep, tender, feeling of affection and kindness toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.
2. A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance.
3.
a. Sexual passion.
b. Sexual intercourse.
4. An intense emotional attachment, as for a pet or treasured object.
5. A person who is the object of deep or intense affection or attraction; beloved. Often used as a term of endearment.
6. An expression of one's affection: Send him my love.
7.A strong fondness or enthusiasm: a love of money.

Scientifically the emotion referred to as love releases endorphins (a group of hormones) which triggers a feeling of pleasure or happiness.

So what is love? I guess you could say love is the emotion that gives us what they call “A warm fuzz feeling” inside. I personally wish people would quit misusing the word and go back to phrases such as , like a lot, thoroughly enjoy, am abscessed by, etc. that way everyone would be able to evaluate their feelings and leave the word love for its proper use. Although my main protest is with the phrase “Make Love” . We do not and can not “MAKE LOVE”, actual love just happens it is not manufactured. If we could manufacture love, we would go broke buying it !

One last thing, you hear people say “I fell out of love”, no they did not. Only imagined love can fade because it is only a strong like or lust. Love is not all hearts and flowers. There will be occasional ups and downs, but “True love last for ever !!!”

Just one old man’s thoughts on the matter.
