Before continuing you may wish to read my thoughts on “Love is” and “Marriage is”, to more fully understand my thoughts on divorce.
Divorce is something that should never have to happen, but in many cases is mandatory.
First off divorce is defined as,
The legal termination of a marriage contract.
Divorce simply stated , means a couple no longer has the legal rights allowed by society. This does not mean the couple is not married just that it is not recognized by law. Many senior citizens get divorced every day but remain married. How, you say, can that be? Easy, they cancel their marriage contract but keep their emotional bound. Now you want to know, why would they do such a thing? The answer is, they do not wish to separate, they merely need to receive a larger social security payments in order to survive financially. In doing so they have to submit several separate legal forms in order to get back rights covered by the one marriage contract. Such forms as, wills and power of attorney.
Now back to the divorce topic. Is it bad or good? Good in that, the couple no longer have any legal obligation to each other. Bad in that, there was never a joint emotionally bond and the marriage contract should never have been made.
There are many valid reasons to end the contract of marriage such as adultery, physical or mental abuse, abandonment and many more. The courts now days, only accepts incompatible or “no fault” as reason for divorce. It reduces the amount of court time required and does away with the burden of proof required in most legal cases,
I know, I know, what about “What God hath put together let no man put asunder.”
Get real !! Do you honestly think God has any thing to do with the marriage of two people after social or financial status? How about two sex crazed kids trying to become adults? And my all time favorite, was God involved in the marriage of two people high on drugs or alcohol on a Saturday night? I don’t think so !! If God puts two people together, no man, woman or society can end their emotional bond. Man-kind my be able to separate, a truly married couple, but they will “never” end their love for each other.

Who Can Get Married:
I do not wish nor intend to offend or besmirch any group, race or religion, I only wish to drive home a point. So I offer my apogee in advance, to any one taking offence.
I find it somewhat funny and saddening at the same time, that society thinks it can dictate who can and who can not get married. As I have previously stated, when two people dedicate their life to each other, they are married ! All society can do is dictate which couples are allowed to have the much sought after, recognition and be allowed to have a “Marriage Contract.”
Where do people get the right to dictate such things? They take their authority from a reckless lack of knowledge. The four main reasons to deny a marriage are homosexuality, cousins, race and religion. Every thing else is acceptable Let’s have a reality check. Too many misinformed people think of homosexuality as a fairly new thing, unnatural and a choice. First off if it is new to society why is it, the Bible states that a man shall not lie down with another man? As for unnatural, scientist in recant years have discover. Homosexuality is a gene and hormonal phenomenon. The life style may be a choice but the condition is not a choice. It may be classed as not “NORMAL“, what ever that is, but not unnatural. Now as for cousins, “the bible says kin should not wed.” Care to check out Laviticus 18 you will find a rather long list conspicuously missing any reference to cousins, or reference to, the sons and daughters of your mothers or fathers brothers or sisters. Here is one the Bible citing people do not wish to address. If you believe in Noah and the great flood, whom do you suppose Noah’s grandchildren and great grandchildren wed? Since all other kin and the animals was taboo, they were only left with, guess who, “Their Cousins.” That leaves race and religion. Since religion is a topic all its’ own let us take on race. Oops, doesn’t that back to Noah and the belief we all come from the same tree?
My main concern is, where does the dictatorship stop? Do we ban Dwarf, Extremely Tall, Fat and how about Ugly marriages so the trait no longer gets passed on, messing with the term “NORMAL?” Where does it stop?
I have heard it said, “It should be mandatory, for people who walk around with their head up their ass, to have glass bellies so they can see where they are going and get a glimpse of reality.”
To sum it up, true marriage is about Love and Dedication, and it is not our job to determine which mature individuals are allowed to fall in Love, or which ones are not !!

Marriage Is ?
First of all what are you looking for? The legal defamation, the realistic defamation or what the defamation should be?
The legal and realistic defamations are virtually identical.
The legal union (contract) of a man and woman as husband and wife, and in some jurisdictions, between two persons of the same sex, usually entailing legal obligations of each person to the other.
Married on the other hand is defined as
Emotionally joined or bounded.
Different meanings entirely.
The marriage contract has changed over the years. Originally, it was a verbal decluration but now requires legal documents to be acknowledged by others. In both cases, a decluration of marriage allowed a man to have exclusive possession of a woman, her property and her offspring. It also obligated the woman to bare children, keep house, cook for him and do what ever he demanded of her. Simply it was legal slavery. The women had no more rights than the livestock. A man would have been in more jeopardy for beating his horse than beating his wife. He could even demand she “pleasure” his friends with out criticism from anyone. She had absolutely no rights and accepted the entire matter as her purpose in life. Did you notice there was no mention of love in the matter of marriage? Unfortunately many people still think the same way.
The modern day marriage contracts allow equal rights to the man and the woman.
The main rights afforded both are an expectation of fidelity (no other sex partners), joint and equal property and financial rights, no physical or mental abuse and countless other rights associated with marriage.
The reality is most marriages today are also for reasons other than love. The reasons very from I want social status, I want financial status, I want to feel wanted, and I want a sex partner that will not cause criticism. There are numerous other nauseating reasons which none of communicate or bear a resemblance to love. What is nauseating is that all these reasons are all acceptable in today’s society.
Let me lead up to my next statement by saying “I neither condemn nor condone same sex marriages because they do not effect my life in any way.” Therefore, after stating that, I would like to know in a society that accepts all the non-love reasons for marriage as proper, how do they have the gall to say same sex marriage takes away from the sanctity and intent of marriage? Get real the true sanctity and intent of marriage, “To Love, Honor and Cherish”, has been tainted from the beginning !!!
I know ! You want to know what happened to “Love, Honor and Obey”. Well the truth is both phrases are man made, nether is in the Bible. If you still prefer the wife’s vows to contain OBEY, then you are of the old school and barbaric belief of enslaving women. To which I say, “May shame and disgrace follow you through eternity !!
Now what should the defamation of marriage be? That has a very simple answer.
When two people truly LOVE, not lust after, each other and agree to dedicate their life to each other, they are married ! The wedding ceremony is only to celebrate their decision with others, not a mandatory thing. Unfortunately, a marriage license is necessary in order to get society to recognize the marriage and your rights as a couple. Once again a wedding ceremony a not a mandatory thing. All that is required is you apply for a marriage license, get someone with the proper authority to verify you are doing this of your own free will, sign the marriage license and then they submit the marriage license to the appropriate authority for filing. Simple right? All except for that bothersome word DEDICATE. This means every morning when you wake and every night before falling asleep for the rest of your life you must choose to be with this one person, protect them, care for their needs and respect them no matter what ! No matter what? You know what that means, sickness and health, rich or poor, happy or sad, no matter what ! Not hard at all, if you truly love them.

Love Is !
This question has overwhelmed mankind from the start of time. Love by it’s self is a word hard to evaluate since it has no vocal levels as many words do. Words such as happy, happier, happiest, warm, warmer and warmest communicate a level of intensity where as love is limited to one level when used by itself. This factor limits and weakens it’s magnitude.
Love is defined as,
1. A deep, tender, feeling of affection and kindness toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.
2. A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance.
3.
a. Sexual passion.
b. Sexual intercourse.
4. An intense emotional attachment, as for a pet or treasured object.
5. A person who is the object of deep or intense affection or attraction; beloved. Often used as a term of endearment.
6. An expression of one's affection: Send him my love.
7.A strong fondness or enthusiasm: a love of money.
Scientifically the emotion referred to as love releases endorphins (a group of hormones) which triggers a feeling of pleasure or happiness.
So what is love? I guess you could say love is the emotion that gives us what they call “A warm fuzz feeling” inside. I personally wish people would quit misusing the word and go back to phrases such as , like a lot, thoroughly enjoy, am abscessed by, etc. that way everyone would be able to evaluate their feelings and leave the word love for its proper use. Although my main protest is with the phrase “Make Love” . We do not and can not “MAKE LOVE”, actual love just happens it is not manufactured. If we could manufacture love, we would go broke buying it !
One last thing, you hear people say “I fell out of love”, no they did not. Only imagined love can fade because it is only a strong like or lust. Love is not all hearts and flowers. There will be occasional ups and downs, but “True love last for ever !!!”
